Marsing Idaho, Gateway to
Owyhee County, is a land of diverse opportunity and activity; a world of
excitement! It's a Gateway that opens to a land of outdoor recreation,
history, agriculture, and special events galore, a place near the crowd, but not
in it. Your own resourcefulness is all you need to unlock this fabulous
Gateway to fun, enlightenment an enjoyment.

Your unique personality dictates the special recreational
activities you choose: fishing, jet skiing on the Snake River ( the lifeblood of
Southern Idaho), hunting, rock hounding, camping in the high desert, or floating
the river. Four distinct seasons allow for snowmobiling or four wheeling, in
country as diverse as your own interests.

Gateway Country is the home of one of the few Jet Sprint
Boat race tracks in the United States. Small boats race against time on a
narrow, twisting water track. The sport provides chills, thrill and lots of
spills.
Yet another, Gateway opens to the land of mystery that overflows
with history. Follow the trail of early immigrants an it wends it way to Oregon.
Visit Map Rock where early Native Americans carved a regional map into hardened
lava. Swim at Givens Hot Springs, once a social hot spot that attracted visitors
from around the world.

Explore Silver City, a former mining town in the Owyhee
Mountains that bulged with more than 10,000 people during Idaho's rush for
riches. Hear the stories of hard trials, sometimes deadly, endured by early
pioneers and seekers after wealth.
Gateway Country also abounds with agriculture resources.
World famous vineyards and wineries are plentiful on the rich sandy slopes above
the Snake River. Fruit orchards are as numerous as the varieties they produce:
apples, peaches, apricots and cherries grow in the region known as Sunny Slope.
Dairies ranging from 5,000 to 15,000 head find that the right kind of hay
produces the right kind of milk. Row crops are abundant: sugar beets, beans, seed
corn, seed alfalfa, grains and more.

Gateway Country special events like jazz concerts,
festivals, antique shows and sprint boat races offer abundant activity to fit
your unique personality and interests.
